STRICTLY FOR COLLECTORS!
Cream, live at the Sports Arena, San Diego on 20th October 1968. Worn out by touring and personal disagreements, Cream agreed to disband after a farewell tour in October 1968. Recorded in outstanding fidelity for broadcast on KPRO-FM, this outstanding gig features a cross-section of their best-loved material, and clearly indicates why they were regarded as the pre-eminent rock band of their day. It’s presented here together with background notes and images. Before Cream imploded and played its final concert in London in November of 1968, the pioneering power trio ignited in San Diego during its U.S. farewell tour a month earlier. The tour marked both a victory lap and a farewell for the legendary super group, which teamed bassist-singer Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker — now both deceased — with guitarist-singer Eric Clapton. With Cream, Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, and Eric Clapton, set the template for not only the “supergroup” but also the “power trio,” with their innate musical talent and brilliance. Only coming together as Cream in July 1966, they shone briefly but blindingly brightly throughout two trailblazing years.
