It follows up on the success of their initial collaboration for the Don't Explain cover album. SEESAW was released on 20th May 2013 in Europe and following day in USA. A new Queen is crowned by the Guitar King of the Blues. Joe Bonamassa is a guitar hero and blues-rocker with impressively eclectic taste. He has developed an interest in blues-related music of every kind, and this is second collaboration with Californian singer Beth Hart. Woah! Hold the horses! To upstage a talented guitarist like Bonamassa is unheard of, but Beth Hart does just that. After all, Beth Hart is so damn sexy her voice alone can, as The Rolling Stones say, “Make a dead man cum”. Talent oozes out of her on every song as Joe sits back and provides the soundscape for her to work her magic. Together, they are an amazing pair of muses. Comebacks don’t get much sweeter than Beth Hart’s. This is her second powerful covers album in as many years. Add a recent solo release and viral vocal work with Jeff Beck for a well-deserved career reboot most would covet. Beth, Joe and an musicians sound like they are having the time of their lives on this well worn standard and you'll had to sit back, kick off my shoes and take this album seriously. Beth Hart’s name is before Joe Bonamassa’s on both of their pairings, which is where it belongs. Her tough, meaty voice grips these songs and while these versions may not be definitive — can anyone best Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Etta James or Billie Holiday’s originals? — she does them justice. For his part, Bonamassa wisely restrains himself from the spotlight stealing, guitar shredder role that has made him one of the most visible contemporary blues rockers. Someone in the team has exquisite taste, as all eleven songs are completely different, but when pulled together in this manner become a complete album with everyone and everything playing their part. Bonamassa underplaying his guitar parts but still managing to let everyone know who the Bossman is. Beth and Joe bring nothing new to the party, but boy does it sound like they were having a party and you can’t fault them for including it here. SEESAW – a heady mixture of eleven classic and contemporary songs done in their own, inimitable R&B style with the singer, songs, guitarist and band all bouncing off each other creating what very well might become a career defining album for both Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa.
