In 2012, THE BEATLES (THE BLACK ALBUM) was released by Toshiba-EMI Limited. The Beatles' infamous THE BLACK ALBUM offered here is only suitable for hard-core fans, as they are unofficial recordings made during the Get Back sessions in January 1969, when a film crew was filming The Beatles accompanied the rehearsals and recorded everything. Accordingly, this double CD is only a fraction of the material available (recommended for fans who want more is Thirty Days), but at least it's a good selection, everything of course raw and unpolished, no one should Expect a perfect studio recording. Rather, The Beatles are shown here with their weaknesses. We know how it all ended. But it is a very enlightening insight for anyone interested. Similar to the Fly On The Wall addition to the Lei It Be Naked album: you hear snippets of conversation, feedback, feedback, the sound isn't particularly good anyway, the bass is often mixed too strongly into the foreground. The even more naked Naked-Let It Be, so to speak. You can also see and hear some of the pieces on the film Let It Be, as well as some unfinished and later never released pieces such as Lennon's "Suzie's Parlor/Suzie Parker". Other things shouldn't raise your hopes too high, "Norwegian Wood" is only played for a few seconds on the acoustic guitar, "Domino" is a McCartney improvisation on Harrison's "I Me Mine", in which McCartney probably also used "Domino". Doris Day had in her ear. Harrsion originally wanted "I Me Mine" to be played as a waltz, then as a flamenco with castanets. Lennon found that completely stupid, as did everything else Harrison was doing at the time; “Ba ba black sheep” is exactly that: Lennon says “ba ba black sheep.” That's it. Harrison plays two Dylan covers alone, which particularly annoyed Lennon, but you can also hear the never-released Harrison piece "Ramblin Woman", "Get back" and a number of other pieces can be heard in the making, such as "Let It Be", when McCartney didn't have a complete text or - very nice - how Lennon and McCartney joke about "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window". “Get Back” was still called “No Pakistanis”, which was intended as a joke on the Tory Party’s rigid immigration policy at the time. The Beatles were not racists, on the contrary, but that was exactly the accusation they feared because no one would have understood the irony of the song. The long jam “Commonwealth” and “Promenade” are also pretty interesting. Many rock 'n' roll songs that The Beatles themselves had heard as young people are replayed, because that was the actual aim of Get Back, to return to the impartiality of the early days, unfortunately rather bad than good, since they don't fit remember all the songs more precisely. All of these recordings have been available as bootlegs for almost 50 (!) years, and this release is not official, but a professionally made bootleg. Enclosed is a complete replica of the book (in CD booklet size) that was included when the LP was first released and excerpts from which were printed on Let It Be Naked. A mini-poster is also included and an accompanying text in Japanese. One wonders why EMI or Apple don't finally release these tapes and make some money after they released such disappointing snippets on Fly On The Wall. Don't you want to tarnish The Beatles' image? That would be stupid or even impossible today, after 48 years. What are they afraid of? Don't McCartney and the others want to give the green light?
