This film captures Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings on the road, in the studio and onstage during their 2004 European tour, performing roots music by some of the greatest artists of all time including Nina Simone, Ray Charles and Chuck Berry. Featuring a host of talented musicians, today's Rhythm Kings line-up perform some of the greatest songs of the last 50 years alongside original material, accomplishing exactly what Bill set out to do - create an evening of fun and enjoyment for all. After leaving The Rolling Stones, Bill Wyman and some friends formed a group with which he wanted to make the music that once inspired him to take up the bass guitar: Rhythm & Blues. It is just one of many pursuits of Bill Wyman, who is also active as a program maker, writer, restaurateur, archivist and site administrator. Although Wyman apparently cannot resist the performance, he is still the imperturbability itself on stage. The man has no desire to come to the fore much himself, and easily shares the spotlights with guitarist Albert Lee, keyboardist Georgie Fame and singer Beverley Skeete. The repertoire of the two concerts on this DVD includes well-known and lesser-known works from the rhythm & blues canon, expertly played by eight gray-crested veterans and one young lady. As an extra, a thirty-minute film can be seen, in which the band is followed along the way.
