LIVE AT KOKO is one of more than twenty live albums by Uriah Heep, and was released through Italian label Frontiers Records on 20th February 2015 in Europe and 24th February 2015 in US. On 4th March 2014, Uriah Heep played in front of its "home" audience at the famous Koko in London, formerly known as Camden Palace and performed an amazing show which was recorded in HD for a release in double CD and DVD. If Ovelix fell in the magic potion pot when he was little and the results on him are permanent, then what the hell did Mick Box do? Mick Box has kept Uriah Heep in the studio and on the road for over four and a half decades. Everyone gives Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple their respect for basically inventing the genre of Hard Rock. Too often, though, one band is left off that list that deserves to be there with every note they made in those early days. That band is Uriah Heep. The fact that the Heepsters are still on the road and still performing at this level and still adding strong, new material to their set is a testament to their talent and tenacity. This band has sold over forty million albums… that’s damn near a million a year since they began making albums. They have a worldwide fan base that is rabid about all things Heep, and they can keep doing this as long as Mick Box pays the electricity bill to plug in his Les Paul.

The set on this night included plenty of classic material, but also mixed in many songs from their last three creatively and critically acclaimed studio efforts: Wake The Sleeper, Into The Wild and Outsider. The white-haired triumvirate are clearly invigorated by their youthful rhythm section. Drummer Russell Gilbrook has been with the band a mere seven years while bassist Dave Rimmer replaced the sadly departed Trevor Bolder a couple of years ago. Together, they bring a vigour and enthusiasm. There is passion here too, amazingly enough. This is a band that does have a jolly good time when playing live. Bernie Shaw now owns the entire Heep catalogue and behind his glasses the twinkle in Mick Box’s eyes has a new sparkle. You'd hazard a guess that this crew possibly could pull off a decent concert even when asleep. The two live CDs rock, and the video included shows Mick Box in all his glory. The founding member may have white hair and be wrinkling around the edges, but that smile - and that guitar playing... wow! The Master of the Wah-Wah pedal can still bring it home! Recording a live DVD in London at Koko's was just fantastic. Fans travelled from all over the world to be there, and be part of this magic night. This added so much to the atmosphere, and thankfully it was captured on camera. Uriah Heep debuted two songs from their new CD, Outsider, that night, and the reaction was just incredible. If you’re a progressive novice, the accompanying DVD will act as a handy tool in your tuition. Used to think Uriah Heep was a tropical sex disease, now they are a bloody great live rock band, who’s enthusiasm for what they do is all over this album. Even if you have all Uriah Heep’s official bootlegs you still need LIVE AT KOKO. The superior sound and production on LIVE AT KOKO spreads the message wider. And of course the DVD lets you see what you hear.
