Uriah Heep was a pioneering hard rock band from Great Britain whose blend of prog rock imagery and early metal guitar attack won them a loyal audience on both sides of the Atlantic in the early '70s. After the group went through a great many personnel changes, many American listeners were unaware that under the leadership of guitarist and founding member Mick Box, Uriah Heep not only survived but thrived through the 1980s and '90s, releasing a number of successful albums in Europe through both decades and touring consistently to enthusiastic crowds. SAILING THE SEA OF LIGHT is a documentary video that examines the band's career from 1986 onward. Produced with Uriah Heep's full cooperation, the documentary features extensive live footage of the band, as well as interviews with the musicians who have helped keep this band's music alive. The story of this line-up tracing the history of Uriah Heep from 1986 until now. Previously unseen footage, brand new performances, back stage interviews and the thoughts and reflections of the musicians involved in making Uriah Heep such a unique success. This is primarily a documentary that covers the current line-up, so it's not even a decent overall historical look at the band. However, as a snapshot of the current band and some nice interviews with the current line-up, it does a nice job. Most of the classic material listed is played in the background or as short snippets when particular songs are mentioned. The bonus concert is well done and certainly shows the band is still very capable of entertaining a crowd. This is a great DVD for a fan of the later version of Uriah Heep. The documentary the time of the Live In Moscow period in 1987 up until Sonic Origami in 1998, the total time of the disc is about two and half hours with the concert and all the extra's included. Join the longest serving line-up of Uriah Heep on a journey across the sea of light. This DVD gives you a backstage pass and puts you into the heart of the band. DVD packed with extra features, the dvd includes the full documentary plus a previously unreleased full length film of Uriah Heep in concert from Sofia. The full length concert in Sofia from 1999 is a treat. Also has a 2001 music video of "Come Away Melinda". Showed as Ian Anderson presenting to the band a Silver Record Award for Sonic Origami plus it shows from the Moscow concert in 1987 the complete songs "Mr. Majestic" and "Pacific Highway". Live concert footage, revealing backstage antics and a full documentary make this a real treat for any fan of the legendary Uriah Heep. This is the longest-serving lineup of the band, and the tightness as they play hits really shines through. Introduced by rock DJ Tommy Vance, these legends show that they've still got what it takes.
