Some musicians want to fill stadiums and have hit albums. Other musicians like Snowy White just want to play the blues, and are happiest playing music in a small club, trying to find those sweet moments when everything is just right. The sound, the atmosphere, the audience. The musicians who join Snowy on this DVD have played with him at different stages of his long and distinguished career. Hence, the DVD contains many songs which haven t been played live for a while, and which feature the musicians who were also present on the original album recordings.

Snowy White is something of an unknown quantity. He has been active as a guitarist (and singer) since the early seventies, a sought-after and booked session musician, but also with a number of solo albums at the start. White made music with Peter Green, played with Thin Lizzy, accompanied Pink Floyd and toured with Roger Waters. In the 1990 The Wall spectacle in Berlin, he was even partly in the foreground. But he never became a superstar, a guitar hero, he is far too modest for that, as you can see for yourself in the 25-minute backstage documentation on this DVD. He is definitely a highly esteemed musician who never messed with his companions of many years. And his companions came, apparently gladly and despite tight schedules - also to be found in the interview section - to record a concert DVD as SNOWY WHITE AND FRIENDS. Not a mega event, whether outdoors or in a large hall, but more of a club session at Muziek Centrum De Bosuil in Weert, The Netherlands. The right atmosphere for a wonderfully intimate appearance. From friends for friends. The basis of White's music - and his bands and projects (Blues Agency, Bues Project, White Flames) - is the Blues. In the past he occasionally let it rip, but now AFTER PARADISE they meet for a relaxed interaction. Snowy White and his companions celebrate the blues, conveying an inkling of the darkness that surrounds it while spreading an incredible warmth. Excellent musicians are at work here and no profile neurotics. White knows how to shine as a guitarist as well as how to step back and let his band mates take precedence. The rhythm section, the two keyboard players shine with impressive performances, and Kuma Harada and Walter Latupeirissa get space not only as bass players, but also on the guitar. Space that breathes. Time that flows. A crazy, shiny diamond - there are numerous passages that demonstrate why the warm yet brilliant tones Snowy White coaxes out of his guitar suit Pink Floyd so well. Sometimes there are also faint hints of Santana, as in the dynamic The Journey. AFTER PARADISE celebrates the great art of appearing "laid back" and still radiating a high intensity. The real drama. The ''Red Wine Blues'' at a bar at midnight, to which you can also sip a tough whiskey, in which you sink and yet never fall asleep. Music that is as nonchalant as it is inspired, which suits the man who is celebrating his friends and himself here. Rightly so!
The DVD was filmed and recorded on 16th September 2011 in De Bosuil Club in Weert, Holland. During rehearsals on the previous day, all the musicians were interviewed for this DVD. The bonus interviews provide some very honest and candid insights.
