Grammy-nominated vocalist, Paul Rogers has a new live CD/DVD FREE SPIRIT, released through Quarto Valley Records on 22nd June 2018. Recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 28th May 2017, it features 16 tracks from the iconic British blues-rock band, Free. This sold out concert returned Paul Rodgers to his roots, bringing fans an extraordinary evening celebrating the music of Free. Paul performs rock classics and many deep tracks-some of which were never performed live by the original band. Beginning his iconic music career as a founding member, main songwriter, and frontman for Free, Paul Rodgers is regarded as one of the greatest vocalists in rock history by contemporaries and fans. Known as the voice of rock music by generations of fans, Rodgers first made his mark with Free from 1968 to 1972. Paul Rodgers started as a young fire-brand vocalist and songwriter and has continued to lead the way as the voice of Rock and Roll. Over the decades, he has moved from one musical project to the next, without missing a step – or a note. FREE SPIRIT gives us Rodgers still on top of his game and ready to deliver. These days, he’s a solo artist and who is performing at full strength and showing no signs of stopping. This man is a living testament to excellence. He sounds so bleeping good the hairs will raise on your arms from the opening verse and will stand at full attention until he’s done singing the final word. He has an energy on the stage that is intense as he revisits a very important part of his past.

This is a live recording by veteran British Blues-Rock vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Paul Rodgers, captured at the legendary Royal Albert Hall. The concert commemorates the Fiftieth Anniversary of founding one of the greatest Blues-Rock bands in history, the celebrated mighty Free, which was of course headed by Rodgers. The album presents sixteen classic Free songs, spanning their relatively short history. Paul Rodgers is supported by a superb band, which consists of members of The Deborah Bonham Band. The accompanying DVD in this set includes the same material as the CD. Rodgers sings as if the tides of time pass him by completely, with his brilliant husky voice sounding clear and confident as it did five decades earlier. He is without a doubt one of the most stable performers in the Rock world, consistently delivering absolutely superb vocals. He is also the best white Blues vocalist of all times, which he proved over and over again throughout his career. Free were the epitome of the British Blues Revival of the mid/late 1960s, and although Britain produced scores of great Blues bands, very few of those got anywhere close to the perfect sound and feel of the Blues that Free managed to create at their time, largely due to Rodgers' vocals, songwriting and leadership. Although the album does not offer any new music, it is an excellent review of the exquisite material Free created during their heydays, wonderfully played and excellently recorded which should keep every fan of the group ecstatically happy and the connoisseurs of classic British Blues-Rock in seventh heaven. An absolute must have!
