IN RED SQUARE: A CONCERT FILM is a live DVD starring Paul McCartney, released on 14th June 2005. It is composed of footage taken during his concerts in Moscow's Red Square and St Petersburg's Palace Square. Songs from Beatles, Wings and solo albums are performed. Each song is interspersed with interviews regarding the Beatles' banning in the Soviet Union in the 1960s, and how fans had to spend large sums of money on buying records from the black market. The film also supports the anti-Soviet opinion that The Beatles were an impetus behind a social revolution, which led to the fall of communism in Russia. Go backstage with landmark concert film and documentary IN RED SQUARE, and experience the hit songs, rare performance footage and exclusive interviews that marked this watershed moment in rock and roll history. Though The Beatles were banned from Russia in the 1960s, their music offered hope and inspiration to an entire nation for years. Finally, on 24th May 2003, Paul McCartney satisfied decades of anticipation with his first-ever concert in Russia, wowing a crowd of over 100,000 people in Moscow's Red Square.

Just as much a role the expense of the cold war and the rise of communications technology had in causing the fall of the Soviet Union, The Beatles played a part in the region's true revolution in the head. In 2003, Paul McCartney performed in Russia, fulfilling a dream that its citizens never dreamed possible during the Soviet era. This live DVD features footage from two of the most eagerly anticipated live shows of all time. Despite being banned from the Soviet Union in the 1960s, The Beatles’ albums gave hope to many who could only access their music through the black market and these shows in Moscow’s Red Square in 2003 and St. Petersburg’s Palace Square in 2004 were a celebration not only of Paul’s music but also a general sense of freedom. Featuring classic tracks from Paul’s huge back catalogue, the DVD is interspersed with clips of interviews in which Paul talks about his and the Soviet Union’s past relationship and the ultimate celebration that took place Moscow’s Red Square. For the Russian audience, McCartney's appearance in Moscow is little short of a miracle. The Beatles were banned for decades by the Soviet government, which regarded their music as the epitome of Western decadence and propaganda, and the fans' only access to the group was through the occasional photo or black market album. Their reaction to his 2003 visit is a mixture of frenzy and rapture. The Beatles' "gentle intervention" is credited with helping to bring down the whole Soviet system, simply because they represented a creativity and freedom that had been almost totally silenced. And that's all before McCartney plays "Back In The U.S.S.R.", which inspires a response that simply must be seen and heard to be believed.
