The former Black Sabbath vocalist lives for the stage. It's sacred ground to the master of mayhem, as evident throughout the entire run of Live & Loud (1993). As always, Ozzy is armed with talented and tight wing men. Guitarist Zakk Wylde, drummer Randy Castillo and bassist Michael Inez surrounded the mighty Oz man during the 1991 and '92 world tours. The tapes were rollin' at virtually every stop along the way, which was billed as Osbourne's final live dates. The best of the lot is captured on Live & Loud. With a three-plus minute introduction montage of career-defining metal setting side one in motion, Ozzy and his partners in crime storm proudly into an amped-up version of "Paranoid". Firing on all six from the start, hand-clapping Ozzy paces the stage while leading the troops through a minefield of classic solo tracks, which includes "Mr. Crowley", "I Don't Know", "Flying High Again", "Suicide Solution", "Bark at the Moon" and "Crazy Train". Topping off the unrelenting assualt of live Oz cuts, side two showcases three Black Sabbath staples. "War Pigs", "Black Sabbath" and the subtle "Changes" pay tribute to days gone by. Noteworthy is the includion of "Black Sabbath", which features the original Sabbath lineup reunited on stage during a concert jam in Costa Mesa, California, on the final date of Ozzy's long 1992 tour. The omnipotent bringers of doom 'n' gloom push out the thick, dark cloud of lumbering prehistoric heaviness with vengeance. The powerful seven-minute beast is driven hard behind the evil riff from Tony Iommi, while drummer Bill Ward and bassist Geezer Butler hold down the thundering backline. The special limited edition deluxe packaging for Live & Loud features a mock metal speaker grill on the cover.
