A NEW DAY YESTERDAY LIVE is the first live album by American blues rock musician Joe Bonamassa. Recorded on 21st December 2001 during the promotional tour for Bonamassa's debut album A New Day Yesterday. A NEW DAY YESTERDAY LIVE documents the final date of a sixty-day jaunt during blues guitar prodigy Joe Bonamassa in support of his debut bearing the same title. What's clear is that the young guitarist's trio lacked nothing in terms of on-stage presence and performing tightness as compared to what was heard on said studio album. Their kinetic reinventions of oft-overlooked '70s rock classics instantly distinguish Joe Bonamassa from teenage blues competitors and his better-conceived originals, "Colour & Shape", the wonderful "Miss You, Hate You", stand up under any circumstance. This was a great show. Unfortunatly most of the crowd became to intoxicated to help in the second take recordings of ''Miss You, Hate You'' and ''If Heartaches Were Nickels''. You'll however have be a big fan since that great show.
PERSONNEL: Joe Bonamassa – guitar, vocals; Eric Czar – bass;
Kenny Kramme – drums.
Think back to the last ime you went to a great rock show that you never wanted to end. You could feel the raw musical talent and electricity of the show through your entire body. At twenty four years old, ''Smoking Joe'' Bonamassa started his solo career with the debut album A New Day Yesterday. It was 2001 and Joe had parted from his former band Bloodline to test the waters on his own, now with his own interpretation of the blues-rock genre. It was also the first time Joe would be showcasing his vocals as a part of his performance. Four years later, he was released his first DVD with a live performance including many tracks from his debut album, titled A NEW DAY YESTERDAY LIVE. Recorded back on 21st December, 2001 at the Piere's Entertainment Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana as the last show of a sixty date tour, A NEW DAY YESTERDAY LIVE captures the essence of Joe Bonamassa, the his bold talent. The almost two-hour set combines the material from Joe Bonamassa's debut album as well as raw, fierce and energetic renditions of Jimi Hendrix's ''Are You Experienced?'' and Blind Faith's ''Had To Cry Today''. This DVD record one back in 2001 is his best. No soft stuff, all rock, and in a decent sized club. Joe was around 24-25 years old with a stripped down three piece band. An added bonus, there's a blonde and brunette go go dancing thru the show, what more is there to like. He is starting to feel confidant and let's his guitar rip. What a treat to watch a guitar god being born. So, catch a buzz, sit back and watch some fantastic "live" blues rock from a fantastic guitar slinger. Enthusiastic shouts of “Joe-Joe-Joe” from the enthusiastic audience are the well-deserved reward for an unprecedented blues-rock spectacle, peppered with delicate guitar art. A NEW DAY YESTERDAY LIVE means seventy two minutes of getting excited about “Smokin’ Joe” as he lives and breathes.
