Loyal contemporaries and ardent acolytes pay homage to one of the greatest guitar heroes of all time on EXPERIENCE HENDRIX, a collection of highlights from two Jimi Hendrix tribute concerts. Experience Hendrix presents unforgettable highlights from two star-studded tribute concerts to Jimi Hendrix. In his brief four-year reign as a superstar Jimi Hendrix expanded the vocabulary of the electric rock guitar more than anyone before or since. Hendrix was a master at coaxing all manner of unforeseen sonics from his instrument often with innovative amplification experiments that produced astral-quality feedback and roaring distortion. His frequent hurricane blasts of noise and dazzling showmanship has sometimes obscured his considerable gifts as a songwriter singer and master of a gamut of blues R&B and rock styles.

Experience Hendrix started out a celebration as part of Seattle’s Bumbershoot Music And Arts Festival. The astounding success of the event, which has since become a major tour headlined by one of Hendrix’s favourite musicians, eminent bluesman Buddy Guy, makes evident Hendrix’s ceaseless inspiration and the continuing popularity of his music. Boasting a wealth of never-before released performances from some of the most celebrated guitar gurus of the past and present, Experience Hendrix presents forteen belting hits from two tribute concerts filmed in San Diego and at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, Hendrix’s hometown, along with a special San Diego Street Scene feature. A feast of breathtaking guitar solos and overdriven amps, the musicians’ performances take the live experience to a whole new level. While the stage is graced by masters the likes of Guy and Hubert Sumlin, not to mention Hendrix’s band mates Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox and Buddy Miles, it never becomes about anything other than Hendrix. Kenny Wayne Shepherd gives a mellow, yet intricate ''Voodoo Child'' and Eric Gales’ ''Purple Haze'' is particularly dynamic, while the ensemble efforts are easily the most powerful. It’s the diverse characters, voices and the sincerity of their enjoyment, however, that makes this truly special.
