Eclectic set features iconic Cream bassist playing with Ginger Baker, Bernie Worrell and Gary Moore. In 1993, Jack Bruce celebrated his 50th birthday with an two-day all-star concert featuring Simon Phillips and former Cream bandmate Ginger Baker (both on drums), Parliament-Funkadelic keyboardist Bernie Worrell and guitarists Gary Moore and Clem Clempson, among others. The shows – recorded at the E-Werk in Cologne, Germany on November 2nd and 3rd of that year – will see release in various formats on December 2nd under the title ROCKPALAST: The 50th Birthday Concerts.

The set available as a Special Edition DVD/CD – the latter featuring a DVD of interviews and a documentary, two 12-page booklets with liner notes and an extra CD called The Lost Songs. The concert set lists span the bassist’s eclectic career, including plenty of Cream classics (like “White Room” and a horn-assisted take on “Sunshine Of Your Love”). Bruce died from liver disease at age 71 on October 25th, leaving behind an incredible musical legacy. With Cream, one of Rolling Stone‘s 100 Greatest Artists, he helped craft four influential studio albums before the band’s breakup in 1968. He then began a lengthy solo career with his solo debut, 1969’s Songs Of A Tailor, and released more than a dozen LPs across the next 45 years. His most recent release was this year’s Silver Rails. “I quite like to just enjoy my life. I’m thrilled to make this album. I put my heart and soul into it, and I’m very pleased with the way it came out,” Bruce told Rolling Stone of the LP.
The Special Edition comes with 2 concert DVDs plus 1 bonus DVD containing tons of additional footage and interviews, the bonus CD The Lost Songs, two 12-page booklets with new linernotes and previously unreleased fotos in 2 DVD digipacks, coated with a slipcase.
