Originally A TV Special GL50 1QA, this concert is available on CD & DVD for the VERY FIRST TIME. Deluxe two disc (CD + PAL/Region 0 DVD) edition. Live archive release from the legendary British outfit. Dr. Feelgood are more than just a ‘Pub Rock’ band from Canvey Island. They are an iconic British Rhythm & Blues band who formed in 1971 and continued to release albums all the way up until lead singer Lee Brilleaux’s untimely death in 1994. The band were focused heavily on their live touring and performed hundreds of gigs each year. Whilst no original members are in the band, Dr. Feelgood still tour to this day followed by a loyal fan base. On 16 December 1990 Dr. Feelgood took the stage at the Cheltenham Town Hall giving life, as in their style, to an enthralling performance based on R 'n' B and the purest British pub rock. Vocalist Lee Brilleaux (who would die four years later), guitarist Steve Walwyn, bassist Phil Mitchell and drummer Kevin Morris star in a spectacular show initially conceived as a television special and now available as CD+DVD: the four fluency a setlist of sixteen songs in which alongside the original classics of the group (''Roxette'', ''Milk And Alcohol'', ''Going Back Home'') there are aggressive covers of ''See You Later Alligator'' (Bill Haley & The Comets), ''Route 66'' (Bobby Troup), ''Bony Moronie'' (Larry Williams), ''Tequila'' (The Champs) and ''Great Balls Of Fire'', rock and roll classics with which the Feelgood have always gotten married. A party in music, and a moving tribute to the late Brilleaux.
PERSONNEL: Lee Brilleaux (lead vocals); Steve Walwyn (lead guitar); Kevin Morris (drums); Phil Mitchell (bass).
Dr. Feelgood was not an act ever expected to see represented in Classic Rock Productions catalog - they were too far underground and too cool, in the company of such 1970s prog rock denizens as Caravan and folk-rockers like Steeleye Span that are more this company's usual fare. But here they are, in superb form - at least, Lee Brilleaux's 1990 version of the group, supported by Steve Walwyn, Phil Mitchell, and Kevin Morris, videotaped in 1990. At this point the band was four years past its last studio release and doing nothing but live performances, and it shows - this lineup ripping through more than a dozen rock & roll classics from their own repertory (including "Roxette," etc.) and standards of the genre. The audio is very good, the visuals are lively and highly mobile, and the whole release is a welcome rescue job, salvaging this performance from the defunct "Bedrock" series. The chaptering gives a numerical reference to each song and an extended medley for a finale, which encompasses "Great Balls Of Fire" and "Boney Moroney," and the audio is mastered at a satisfyingly high volume.
