Every generation has its very own icons, from Johnny Cash to Black Sabbath; every decade is largely defined by the new sounds that emerge. His Infernal Majesty are no exception - since 1992, the Finnish goth rock veterans have been cooking up their very own brand of world-wearied balladry, which they refine in their own inimitable way with their heavy synth-soaked sounds.
With their eighth studio album "Tears On Tape", HIM are once again bewitching the world. It doesn't get any more melancholy than this - composed as acoustic versions that were later electrified to full widescreen, HIM have created one thing above all on "Tears On Tape": Classics for eternity! "Imagine a folk singer doing it with a metal band", is how frontman Ville Valo describes the newly defined sound. The brand new songs were recorded in HIM's Finnish homeland under the aegis of their proven long-term producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, who has already worked on previous successful albums such as "Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666" and "Love Metal".
The album was mixed in London's Assault And Battery Studios by Tim Palmer (Ozzy Osbourne, U2, Pearl Jam).
