Frank Marino is probably the most underappreciated great guitarist of all time. His work has always been consistently excellent. On RealLIVE!, Marino's guitar work balances speed, tone, soul, and sophistication. Disc one highlights include a blistering rendition of Hendrix's Voodoo Chile, and extended workout on He's Calling, a molten interpretation of Hendrix's Red House, the jazzy jam Poppy, and an epic version of Juggernaut's Stories Of A Hero, complete with an improvised prelude. Disc two includes a mixture of psychedelic tone poetry (Strange Universe) hard-hitting rock (Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame) slamming fusion (Tales Of The Unexpected), and all-out sonic warfare (Electric Reflections Of War). Marino is in fine form here, and although this live set is not the relenteless end-to-end sonic assault that Mahogany Rush Live was, it is more varied and shows more sides of Marino's playing. A must have for fans of great guitar playing in a live setting.
