THE STRAT PACK: LIVE IN CONCERT - CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF THE FENDER STRATOCASTER is a film of a September 24, 2004, concert marking the 50th Anniversary of the Fender Stratocaster guitar. The film was released in 2005. Invented by Leo Fender in 1954, its solid wood body created a tone and sustain not heard before that won over the hearts and ears of many an axeman. Over the past 50 years, the Strat has been the preferred axe for rock immortals such as: Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton and many more. In autumn 2004, an All Star Line Up of some of the world's greatest guitarists and thousands of fans gathered at London's Wembley Arena to celebrate the 50th Birthday of a music legend, the Fender Stratocaster guitar. Filmed in 2004 THE STRAT PACK: LIVE IN CONCERT is a guitar lovers dream. No other guitar has so captured the imagination and artistry of a generations musicians and so enabled their individuality of expression. The concert was shot with ten Hi def cameras including one jimmy jib and three dollies. The audio was recorded on 80 channels and mixed and edited at the Astoria Studio in Hampton.

On 24th September 2004, an all star line up featuring of some of the world`s greatest living guitarists and thousands of fans gathered at Wembley Arena to celebrate the 50th Birthday of a music legend, the Fender Stratocaster guitar. The concert was a charity event in aid of the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy charity, and raised somewhere in the region of £175,000. It's too bad Eric Clapton couldn't have made an appearance at the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Fender Stratocaster. THE STRAT PACK: LIVE IN CONCERT captured on this 155-minute DVD (with Stereo, 5.1 Surround and DTS audio options) paid homage to Leo Fender's famous invention that literally changed the face of music with its wide array of tonal possibilities. Despite Clapton's absence, the bigger names at this gig still put on the most enjoyable performances. Joe Walsh, playing with an edge, David Gilmour, mesmerizing listeners while standing completely still, and Paul Rodgers, strutting through "All Right Now" as if he were still a young man and inviting his son and daughter, Steve and Jasmine, onstage to sing a beautiful ballad they wrote. The point of this party was to celebrate and explore the breadth of the Strat's cumulative effect on music. That explains why rockabilly, jazz, blues, pop and rock was on display. There were lots of rumours about who would and wouldn`t be appearing. Jeff Beck was confirmed for the line up but then pulled out. There are five tracks missing from what was played on the night, but the set list is largely intact. Approximately 30 minutes of interviews with everyone from The Crickets, reportedly the first band to use a Fender Stratocaster on record, to Genesis' Mike Rutherford, who calls the Strat the only guitar that can be a bit of everything. That statement was certainly true this night.
